"WEEPING WOMAN"
John Cowper Powys' text does not really seem to fit the topography of this part of Weymouth, since the Guildhall is on the corner of St Mary's Street and the last street before reaching Custom House Quay.
However, the "Golden Lion" shown here is believed to have been JCP's favourite pub in Weymouth and may well have inspired this passage.
